James Cole has enjoyed photography as a hobby for over 40 years and has gathered images from over 80 different countries. The advent of digital photography and the powerful softwares that have evolved in the past few years have allowed James to move from photographic hobbyist to digital artist.
James uses a process he calls ‘Photage’, which is the combination of two or more (often well beyond ten) elements from different original photographs, always from his own extensive library, to compose a final piece of art. The results fall into the contemporary, abstract, surreal, impressionist and modern styles of art. James presents his work in many formats – framed limited editions, museum wrapped limited editions (giclee), digital images, greeting cards and matted prints. He and his wife Susan partner to produce oil enhanced giclees as well.
James’ work has been accepted into the AANC National Show and Exhibit two years running and he has won multiple awards in the digital art category.
